On duty for you around the clock
Rettungsdienste Nordwestschweiz AG provides pre-hospital emergency care in 32 municipalities in the cantons of Basel-Landschaft and Solothurn, for 124,407 people in the Birseck, Leimental, Dorneck and Thierstein areas and in parts of the Laufental, around the clock, 365 days a year. Qualified paramedics (Swiss higher vocational diploma, HF) and our emergency physician team respond to emergencies from our ambulance stations in Reinach BL and Breitenbach SO. We also transfer patients between hospitals. The map under ‘About us’ shows which municipalities we serve.
In an emergency: 144 – how to help the right way
In cases of unconsciousness, shortness of breath, severe chest pain, signs of a stroke or after a serious accident, dial 144 immediately. The call is free of charge.
Stay calm, answer the questions put by the 144 emergency call centre and only hang up when you are told to. The specialists on the phone will guide you until our team arrives, for example with chest compressions.
In case of poisoning, Tox Info Suisse, the Swiss poisons information centre, gives advice on 145. For complaints that are not life-threatening, contact your GP practice (family doctor) or the out-of-hours medical service.
Our services at a glance
We are there when it matters: in emergency rescue, for transfers between hospitals and with our emergency physician vehicle. In a mass casualty incident (MCI), we take on medical command together with our partners.

Do you want to help people in emergencies and are you looking for a profession with responsibility? With us, you can become a qualified paramedic (Swiss higher vocational diploma, HF) in three years.
You learn the practical side on our ambulances and the theory at medi, Zentrum für medizinische Bildung, in Bern. At the start, you practise the most important techniques and procedures in an introductory week.
